Meet Our Doctors

The doctors at EMU perform all the ultrasound scans themselves. They do not use technicians. They are all qualified Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and are fellows of the Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In addition, they all have a special qualification awarded by the RANZCOG (after 2 to 3 years of training in Ultrasound) to perform Obstetrics and Gynaecology Ultrasound. In this setting, there is a distinct advantage, as the doctor is able to explain the scan findings to the patient. Technicians are unable to fulfil this role. The benefit of this model is that during the scanning, findings can be conveyed to the patient. Any abnormalities detected can be explored with further testing, and counselling provided by the doctor.
